Vikriti Assessment
While Prakriti is your lifelong constitution, Vikriti is your current state: which doshas are aggravated right now, how strong your digestion (Agni) is, and whether undigested metabolic residue (Ama) is building up. Treatment in Ayurveda is aimed mainly at correcting Vikriti.

- Dosha imbalance: which of Vata, Pitta or Kapha is aggravated, and where in the body it is showing up
- Agni (digestive strength): appetite, digestion, bowel habits and energy after meals
- Ama: signs such as a coated tongue, heaviness, poor appetite and sluggishness
- Strength and stage: your overall strength, age, season and how long the problem has been present, which decide how gentle or intensive treatment should be
Precautions & Safety
Vikriti assessment is an Ayurvedic clinical evaluation. It does not replace blood tests, scans or a specialist opinion when these are needed, and our doctor will tell you if they are.

How It Is Done
- History of the present problem and recent changes in diet, sleep, stress and routine.
- Clinical examination, including pulse, tongue, abdomen and the affected area.
- Review of your reports and current medicines.
- A clear explanation of what is out of balance and how the plan will correct it.
What Research Says
Researchers are developing structured tools for Ayurvedic assessment. A self-assessment tool for digestive strength (Agnibala) has been developed and validated in healthy volunteers [1], and a newer Agni assessment scale has shown promising early results but needs further validation [2]. A survey of shift workers used Agni assessment to show digestive differences between rotating- and fixed-shift workers [3].
Reviews note that Ayurvedic diagnostic tools still need rigorous validation using modern methods [4]. We use these concepts as clinical reasoning tools alongside, not instead of, conventional tests where they are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is Vikriti different from Prakriti?
Prakriti is your fixed constitution; Vikriti is your current imbalance. Two people with the same Prakriti can have very different Vikriti at a given time.
Does Vikriti assessment need tests?
The Ayurvedic assessment itself is clinical, but the doctor may ask for, or review, conventional tests where they are relevant to your concern.
Will my Vikriti be reassessed?
Yes. It is reviewed at follow-up visits, because the plan is adjusted as your balance changes.
