Rejuvenation
Rasayana is the branch of Ayurveda devoted to rejuvenation. Its traditional aims are strength, vitality, mental clarity and healthy ageing; these are goals in Ayurvedic texts, not proven outcomes. It combines nourishing diet, routine, good conduct, rest, Rasayana herbs and nourishing therapies, usually after any necessary cleansing.

- Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), a Rasayana herb, may improve memory and attention in adults with mild cognitive impairment, according to one randomised trial [1].
- In aging, overweight men, Ashwagandha raised DHEA-S (a hormone the body makes) and testosterone compared with placebo but did not improve fatigue or vigour more than placebo [2].
- In older adults with mild cognitive impairment, Rasayana and integrated yoga each improved cognition, with greater benefit when combined, in a non-randomised study [3].
- Purified Shilajit, a mineral-rich resin, raised testosterone levels in healthy volunteers aged 45 to 55 in a randomised, placebo-controlled trial [4]. It measured hormone levels, not energy or vitality.
Herbal studies used specific standardised products, and benefits for energy and “vitality” are not consistently proven.
How We Help
At AyurSoul in Spectrum Mall, Sector 75, Noida, Dr. Hemlata Soni (BAMS) begins with a full history and an assessment of your constitution (Prakriti, your natural make-up) and current imbalance (Vikriti, what is out of balance now), along with the medicines you already take. A plan may include diet, daily routine, Rasayana herbs and, where suitable, a Panchakarma (classical cleansing therapies) rejuvenation programme. Rasayana suits adults who are run down or recovering, after assessment.
Precautions & When to See a Doctor
Tiredness and low energy can have medical causes (anaemia, thyroid problems, diabetes, depression, sleep apnoea) that need tests. See a doctor promptly if tiredness is new and lasts more than a few weeks, or comes with unexplained weight loss, fever, night sweats, low mood or memory problems. Call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department straight away for chest pain, severe breathlessness or fainting. Rasayana herbs can interact with medicines and are not suitable for everyone, including in pregnancy. Tell us before you start if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a liver, thyroid or hormone-sensitive condition, or take medicines for diabetes, blood pressure, sleep or blood thinning. Use only quality-assured products prescribed after consultation. Do not stop any prescribed medicine to start a Rasayana herb, and tell us about every medicine you take. Ayurvedic care is complementary to your doctor’s medical care, not a replacement for it.
